Yo guys!

We moved to Movie Matinee to Saturday to make room for this awesome party we’re going to throw tomorrow. Most of you know that we have been working tirelessly on major major updates to the Webosaurs site that will be made next week. Who you don’t often is are the amazing developers and artists that help make this all happen.

Come to the Sanoran Sands this Friday at 17:30 WST in the Jurassic server to meet these amazing creative minds. Colgate, Agus, JuanPaRe, Jonzi, Resabio, Walnut and Mischief are expected at this party. Everyone should be able to make it and this will be an awesome chance for you to meet them, talk to them and thank them for all the hard work they’ve done. Looking forward to seeing you guys there!

Springtime is in full swing here on Webosaurs as many dinos are enjoying the beautiful spring weather. Spring is a season of growth, renewal and awesomely decorated caves! This week, Webosaurs is challenging everyone to a spring cave decorating contest.

We’re looking for unique and creative caves that fit with our spring theme.  Leave a comment in this post to let us know that you’re entering and we’ll send a judge to visit this Sunday.

The best cave winners will receive a bluggin’ banner for their cave, AND their photo here in the blog!

So did you guys hear the new Nigel Marven Webosodes are coming out soon? Unfortunately, Rexxy is just so excited that he can’t wait. He’s throwing a Movie Night on Friday that will take all the party goers on a trip around the Island to watch all the Webosodes we have!

There will be popcorn, there will be awesome webosodes and possibly even a few creepy crawlies. Rexxy gets scared easily so you might have to make him feel better when you guys watch the scarier animal videos.

Meet Rexxy at the Gushing Geyser in the Jurassic server this Friday at 17:30 WST to get started on this awesome trip around the island.

Archaeoceratops

Q: Archaeoceratops is a dinosaurs that looks like protoceratops and gallimimus mix body, why? -Irvine

A: That’s a very interesting question Irvine. Archaeoceratops and protoceratops were both ceratopsians but belonged to different families. Also, they existed during different times of the Cretaceous. Still, the fact they belonged to the same Infraorder means they would have homologous traits.

Homologous means they come from the same ancestor. These traits are very important in determining taxonomy of a creature. Frills on two different ceratopsians would be considered homologous because they were derived from the same ancestor, even if they looked slightly different.

On the other hand, Archaeoceratops may have had similar features to Gallimimus (standing upright, I assume?). These creatures were not related though, and the traits look the same (and may have the same function) but don’t come from a direct evolutionary line. These are called analogous traits.

Example of an analogous feature – a bird wing and a bat wing both serve the same purpose, and look similar, but they do not come from the same evolutionary line. Their wings are considered analogous.

Can you think of two animals who have analogous traits? Homologous traits?

Now this is a Game of the Week to be excited about! We asked on Twitter what it should be and decided that Matterhorn’s Big Air would be a great game!

Take your Webosaurs on a crazy snowboarding game by busting out fat backflips, 360s and whatever else you can bust out on the mountain. The title is no joke, you’ll catch some big air on this game in Webo Ridge. Find it to the right of the Lizard Lounge in Webo Ridge.

With all games of the week it will be giving out a ton of coins so don’t forget to give it a shot. Catch some Big Air, SnowDinos!

As many of you know, we’re in the middle of some giant updates to the site. A crucial part of making these updates happen is the role the Blogosaurs play in helping us test and giving us their feedback. These dedicated bloggers not only pour hours of time into their awesome blogs but also help us make new features better for all of you.

To say thank you to these awesome dinos, we’re going to throw a party this Saturday at 12:00 WST at the Giant Umbrella in the Understory Layer, Jurassic server. Come and meet all the Blogosaurs and hear what they are all about in their own words. I’ll be giving out packs of coin codes to Blogosaurs who contact me before the party to give away.

Beyond the coin codes though, this is a great chance to talk to the Blogosaurs about what they do, how they make such awesome blogs. In this day and age blogging is such a huge part of communication and these guys have a serious head start in life. Come play, get some coin codes and learn how you could become a Blogosaur too.
