Game of the Week – Dino Match

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Here is a Game of the Week we haven’t done before… Dino Match! Head to Carnivorous Caverns (Or the Game Zeppelin if you’re lazy!) and get down on a few games  of Dino Match. It’s your classic Memory game, but with awesome current critters that you have to flip over and match up.

As with all Games of the Week, Dino Match will be giving out a stellar amount of coins all week long while you play. This is a great chance to learn the names of some really cool critters and start saving up for that extra avatar or the pet you’ve always wanted. Have fun and good luck!

A poem from Earthbound

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

Hey guys, Earthy sent me an email a few days ago with this awesome poem she wrote. I had to share it with you!

WEBOSAURS – by Earthbound

A place were the fun started millions of years ago,

When there was no crow,

When the creatures had no toe,

And when there was little snow.

A place were bored creatures didn’t exist,

When every game had a twist,

Were events could not be missed,

And were the only problems were mist.

A place were something new was always there,

Were fun was in scare,

When these creatures went to go compare,

And were broken things was always in repair.

A place were dinosaurs was never scary,

But sometimes hairy,

When the most awesome name was Gary,

And a dinosaur was as pretty as a fairy.

A place were no one was down,

But there be always a clown,

Were nothing had a frown,

And were everyone had a crown.

A place that is protected,

Were no friend was rejected,

Were everyone is connected,

And everyone was respected.

This place still lives to be awesome today,

Were there was no need to weigh,

Were we all have fun in the sun in the day,

But you sometimes need to clear your cache,

Were someone will always say ‘hey’,

Were no one is grey,

And this places is the best place to play, today!

Nigel marvels at a waddling African Penguin

Hey all! Hope you enjoyed the awesome Webosodes parties this weekend. If you haven’t heard yet, we’ve just released 3 BRAND NEW Webosodes that were made a few months ago with Flyboy and Nigel Marven traveled to South Africa to share their wildlife experiences with us. While we love studying the ancient history of the magnificent dinosaurs, we also think its very important to learn about the creatures that live on our planet now, so we can learn to appreciate and protect them.

First, you can head to the Jurassic Fort in Webo Ridge to see the African Penguin webosode. These adorable little waddlers are sprawled out on South Africa’s largest breeding colony of one of the only kinds of penguins on Earth that enjoy warm weather.

Then head to the Prairie Pool where you can find two new Webosodes featuring the Cape Cobra and Puff Adder snakes, along with Bird Island – home to over 200,000 Cape Gannets.

Watch out Nigel!

These are just the first of many Webosodes we’ll be releasing in the next few weeks and months. We’d love to hear what you think of them! What was your favorite?

Daily Dino Fact: Birds of a feather…

Ethanator's bluggin' Archaeopteryx project

A few days ago Ethantor contacted me about this awesome Archaeopteryx project he did for his school. He wanted me to share pictures of his project with the rest of you, and take the chance to talk about Archaeopteryx – the early bird he based his project on. Archaeopteryx was the first known bird we’ve ever found and it lived way back in the Late Jurassic. It is said that the bird is the link between dinosaurs and modern day birds, and is the earliest example of feather impressions found in fossils.

Archaeopteryx was a meat eater and had many characteristics of theropod dinosaurs. Paleontologists aren’t sure whether the bird was a glider or could fly like birds today, but everyone is sure that Archaeopteryx was a pretty stinkin’ cool animal.

Thanks for sharing your pictures with us Ethanator, you did a great job! Feel free to share your thoughts and knowledge about Archaeopteryx in the blog comments.
