Weekend Round-up – Horns is BACK!

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

Weeee heeee

Hey gang, it’s going to be a HORNS weekend on Webosaurs Island! We haven’t heard from Spike for a while, the Monster in Sub Alpine Forest seems to be staying put in its glass case… maybe we aren’t in for an attack after all? I knew Spike was bluffing this whole time, I just knew it! Anyway, HORNS is going to be visiting the Island TWICE this weekend. First, on Friday at the special time of 14:00 WST, HORNS is bringing back Comedy Night (ehhhrm AFTERNOON)! HORNS was in a huge rush and told me he didn’t care what the theme of Comedy Night was and since I get to pick I decided to make a little fun of HORNS, so the theme of this weeks Comedy Night is MUSCLE JOKES! Here is my first Muscle Joke:
What did HORNS say to Rexxy?
HORNS: “Do you know how to sew?”
Rexxy: “Um sew with these arms? No, why?”
HORNS: “Because, I’m RIPPED!”

That is the definition of a great muscle joke! Top 3 will receive trophies of HORNS choosing!
On Sunday we are going to have an entirely different kind of Party. HORNS will be back in the Gushing Geyser at 12:00 WST playing  a new game called King of the Geyser. Whoever can get closest to the Geyser without getting shot into Dr. Nanos lab for each round will get the special prize… Weight Lifting Set. Many will be given out (limit one per dino) and HORNS will give away a special prize for the most cooperative dino. Be there or be square!

If you aren’t familiar, we encourage our Protectosaurs to meet up as a group once a week to discuss issues on the island and other items of interest. However, the meetings aren’t closed off to only Pros – they are more like Town Hall style meetings for everyone to discuss island business. Everyone has an equal stake in Webosaurs and we would love to hear what is on your mind.

Game of the Week – Vine Swingin’

Monday, July 25th, 2011

SWANGGGGGIN

Hey gang, it’s game of the week time. This week it’s going to be Vine Swingin’ that gives out the most coins on the Island. Located in the Soggy Bottom Swamp, grab onto a vine and hold on tight, then release and jump to the next one at just the right time or else you won’t make it to the end and won’t get the coins that await you!

You may think that using the Pterry avatar is the best bet because he is the lightest… but I like to think that Horns is the best to use because he is the strongest. You might think that Rexxy is at a major disadvantage because of his short arms, but he’s actually pretty good too! Good luck!

Webosaurs Weekend – Stretch’s Day Out!

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

This place is PARADISE dudes!

Hey dudes, it’s time for weekend party action. That’s right, STRETCH is flexing his guns this weekend and getting ready to pick up his surfboard and get ready to battle Okvango and Spike. He’s going to be rallying in his all-time favorite landscape, Jungle Beach this Saturday at 11 WST. Stretch has been keeping a low profile for several months recently, but he told me recently that he’s sick and tired of hiding and waiting for Spike to do something bad. Stretch is going to be starting the party in Jungle Beach, but he’ll be headed to Prairie Pool to play some Musical Water… and might even get into some emoticon quick-draw and other games that dinos want to play on the Island. Everyone who shows up will get the Ice Surf Board throwback item as a take-away gift! See you on the Island!

Weekend Party – Stop the EVIL ANKY!

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

SAVE THIS ISLAND!

Okay, let’s try this again! Since Spike attacked our servers last weekend and we could not have our party we’re going to try to have it again this weekend and I’m sure Pterry won’t be stopped twice in a row! In case you missed the update yesterday, Pterry leaked some information to this blog… he’s completed work on some spy gear that we plan to use to stop Spike from taking over our Island. I’m pretty sure Spike was trying to stop Pterry from releasing this information last week, but like I said, Pterry won’t be stopped twice in a row! I’m really excited to see how Pterry plans on using this exclusive equipment to stop Spike and I’m sure he’ll give us some information about it this weekend. Of course, everyone who comes to the party will receive this Okvango dummy to practice their aim. I can’t wait to finally hear what Pterry has to say! See you on the Island!

Leak: Sneak Peak from Pterry’s Vault

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

WHOA! SPY BOMB!

Hey gang, as I’m sure are all very aware, our friends the Webosaurs have been working on something very big in preparation for Spike’s planned attack on the Island. I’ve been begging them for information for weeks and they’ve all told me that it’s all top secret. FINALLY Pterry threw me a tiny bone! Pterry told me that he finally completed a piece of spy equipment!!! He wouldn’t tell me anything except that this wouldn’t work against Spike or Okvango or any other dinos… I’m not sure what we’ll use it it for, but it looks cool! What do you think about it? What could this all be about?

Game of the Week – Dance Party

Monday, July 11th, 2011

Its time to put on your dancing shoes!  Dance Party is Game of the Week!

Dance Party is located in Tonto Plateau, but you can also play by going to the Arcade Room. Make sure you bring a dance partner and see who is more accurate and has faster dino-feet… ehh.. claws. If you can’t find another dino to dance against just ask a mod and they’ll be happy to accept your challenge.

Weekly Environmental Fact – CRITICALLY ENDANGERED PRIMATES

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

Hai Der

Irvine – Webosaurs resident scholar – asked a great question this week that cannot be ignored. Irvine asked;  “What is the most endangered primate?” The answer is as sad as it is clear, the most endangered primates are orangutans, specifically the Sumatran orangutan.

Orangutans are incredible creatures and are currently only located on two of Indonesia’s islands; Sumatra and Borneo. When I was 12 years old I was lucky enough to visit these amazing creatures in Borneo and they are unlike any I have ever seen. They are arguably the most intelligent of all primates and unlike other great apes of similar size and mass, they spend most of their time in the trees. These creatures even sleep high up in trees and they make sleeping nests out of branches and leaves so that they can sleep up there. Of course, how can I forget, orangutans are also distinguished by their unique orange hair.

As I mentioned above, orangutans are incredibly intelligent and has the unique ability to use primitive tools as chimpanzees have also been known to do. Orangutans have been known to use tools to get bugs out of holes in trees and to take seeds out of fruit, more uniquely they’ve also been known to use rolled up leaves as megaphones to increase the volume of their trademark sound, the kiss squeak. Scientists have determined that smaller orangutans have used the rolled up leaves to increase the volume of their kiss squeak so that other orangutans will think that they are bigger than they actually are! Amazing! I’m not sure if I could even figure that out!

As with all of these environmental blog posts, this one ends sadly. Orangutans are extremely endangered, their habitat is being destroyed by mining, logging and deforestation, they are often killed for food or because they are viewed as a threat. Sometimes infants are stolen from their mothers to be sold as pets and often die without the help of their mothers. Another huge problem has been the increase in the production of palm oil. Demand for palm oil have gotten really big in the last decade and palm oil flourishes in the same territory that Orangutans call home, finally some areas have of Indonesia have restricted the production of palm oil to protect orangutans habitats, but a lot of damage has already been done. Mankind has to get it together so that we can all enjoy these amazing creatures like I was able to!
