At over 65 million years old, Horns had a lot of parties

Oh yeah!!! It’s the moment you all have been waiting for. Yes, it is Horns’ birthday party this Saturday! The rest of the Webosaurs are out of town, and he’d love it if you came by the Giant Umbrella to celebrate with him. We’ve got a lot of awesome decorations planned but we need some peeps to fill the place!

As usual, we’re going to need some live entertainment… we’ll need waiters to serve cake and someone to make Swamp Juice drinks from behind the bar. Not to mention some chefs and plenty of people to party!! This party is going to rock.

Also, as a special surprise, everyone who comes to the party will get a Horns birthday cake in their caves on Sunday! See you at the Giant Umbrella this Saturday at 12:00 WST in the Jurassic server.

Hope you guys are ready to laugh your armor off once again at this Friday’s Comedy Night at the Lizard Lounge. Every dino who comes will have a chance to come up on the stage and tell their favorite joke. Our panel of guest judges will pick their top 3 favorite jokes and give out cheesey trophies!

The competition is just for fun though… the real awesomeness comes from the jokes. Comedy Night is the best entertainment show on the web.

Please remember to be respectful of other dinos telling jokes and not go up on the stage unless it is your turn. Every single dino will get to tell a joke, so please be patient. Comedy night starts at 17:30 WST this Friday on the Jurassic server. w00t!

The Chicxulub crater, site of the Cretaceous asteroid impact

Good day dino friends! Pterry here with some extremely exciting news for my feature column, “Pterry’s True Science.” Sometimes Rex let’s me stop by the blog to tell you about new information coming out in the world of paleontology and prehistory. This is a big one. The biggest one so far.

Recently a group of 41 paleontologists and scientists made a decision on what really caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. We’ve discussed this on the blog before and it has been one of the biggest debates about dinosaurs ever. Now it is put to rest as the universally accepted explanation for the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Their decision had a lot to do with the Chicxulub crate in Mexico and the strange iridium layer between Cretaceous and Tertiary aged rocks. The asteroid that wiped out the dinos measures abotu 7.5 miles wide and had the destructive power of a nuclear bomb (times 1 billion, literally).

Well with that debate back to rest, scientists can go back to arguing about whether or not dinos were warm blooded or cold blooded.As for me on the other hand, I’ll be arguing with Horns about who the smarter dino is. That should be an obvious one!

Congrats to everyone who walked away with a Rexxy tonight… looking forward to the next one already!

Testing Site

This is not active yet, but we will let you know once it is fully set up and ready to go. Blogosaurs will be able to come into the testing site and try out new features before we release them to the rest of the Island. You’re input and feedback will help us to make the new updates into exactly what you need. Although screenshots will not be allowed from the testing site, you will be free to write about the things you are testing out.

Did you end up making a new blog? Have you worked on another blog but now you write for a new one instead? As long as you can prove you’ve met the requirements we will still hook you up with a Blogosaur badge.

….we’ve got some awesome events coming up this weekend

Tonight (Friday) - Karaoke Night - First official party in the new Understory Layer. Join Rexxy and your friends at the Giant Umbrella for some fun-filled karaoke and hanging out. Don’t want to sing? Be a waiter, or a chef… first person to claim restaurant manager gets it! We may even need a Karaoke DJ to pick singers. Event starts at 17:30 WST in the Jurassic Server at the Giant Umbrella. Don’t forget to unlock the Understory Layer first!

Sunday - Rexxy Awards Ceremony - Remember that today is the last day to submit your video entries to info@webosaurs.com. The Rexxy Awards Ceremony will commence at 12:00 WST at the Lizard Lounge in Jurassic server. Come hang out with the entire Webosaurs cast: Rexxy, Horns, Pterry and Stretch for this awesome event.

Utahraptor - still the king of the Dromaeosaurs

Q: What was the biggest raptor? -Repticore5 (I believe it was Sinraptor - Shadowflyer)

A: Heyyy… very good call Shadowflyer. Standing nearly 10 feet tall (3 meters) and roughly 25 feet (7.6 meters) in length, it would appear that Sinraptor is actually bigger than the other raptors. After all, Utahraptor is only 23 feet (7 m) long. Could this be the new biggest raptor of them all?

Turns out that Sinraptor isn’t actually a raptor. Sure, it’s called a raptor (which means “thief” in latin) and it kind of looks like a raptor. However, it isn’t a member of the Dromaeosaurids. If you remember, Dromaeosaurs are what we usually refer to as “raptors.” Sinraptor was just your regular ol’ theropod, but we bet he was still pretty scary to cross.

So there you go… Utahraptor with his giant claw and menacing reputation still remains the king of the raptors!

WOOT! It’s time to have our first ever official party at the brand new Understory Layer. We’re going to be celebrating at the Giant Umbrella with a bluggin’ karaoke night! Rexxy will be on hand to hang out and watch you step up to the mic and deliver a rendition of your favorite song, Webosaurs style.

It’s not just going to be singing though as we want an all out fiesta! We’ll need chefs, waiters and hosts to run the evening and for the rest of you to enjoy yourselves. You could even take a turn as the Karaoke night MC, calling up dinos to the stage to belt out their favorite tunes.
